End of A380 Production

The end of the road appears to be near for the Airbus A380. What do you think?

Hi Donny_Wingo,
Unfortunately the A380 isn't adapted to current market.
Long haul flexible aircrafts demanding for less passengers...but with extended range.
Airlines re-orientated their fleet to B787 and A350.
I'm part of a company who currently repairs A380 APU (small engine in the tail of the A/C) which delivers electric and pneumatic power.
We are the only shop in the world due to unsuccessfull aircraft sales.
Emirates is our main customer.
Shame because it's a nice aircraft..
Fortunately we also repair B787 APU for major companies in the world.

The days of new A380's rolling off the production line seem to be numbered. It is an amazing aircraft. Every time I see one take off I am amazed by the engineering.

Unlike the 747 family, it is too bad the aircraft is too heavy to be used as a freighter. It looks like the 747-8 will have an extended life as a freighter and the line will still be open if someone wants a 747-8i.

Hi!

Does that mean Boeing was right ? I mean, with the idea of linking smaller airports with direct flights, with smaller long haul planes ?
Does that also mean that smaller (african and asian) airlines will get second hand A380 because they aren't making that much profit ? (I'm thinking of let's say Gabon Airways A380 or Biman Bangladesh..)
Does that also mean that in a few years after the end of production, it will become harder to find spare parts, and stored A380s will start to fill Chateauroux, Marana/Victorville, etc. ?
Does that also mean that in just a few decades, just like the Concorde, younger people will never believe that airplane was once the mightiest of all ? (in a way)

I'm not used to believe public media news, but it looks like "bye bye A380" isn't it Image What's the point for Airbus to go on when you don't have firm orders anymore ?

Any Airbus (A380) lover to bring some light in the whole story ?
(At least, this topic will die if we don't start a small Boeing vs Airbus flamme war  )

Hi,
It's mainly due to economical turmoils in 2007 and 2008, when banks collapsed making wrong choices and playing God
Major airports didn't invest by then to welcome such innovative A/C
Nevertheless production will adapt to the demand, mostly with Emirates and Singapore Airlines.
China's airlines could probably consider in investing in the A380 in the next few years (cross fingers)
Meanwhile A320 is a top seller yet.
Cheers

Maybe we'll see a small increase in passenger 747-8i. The benefit that Boeing has is an order book for cargo 747-8's to keep the line going. If an airline wants a 747-8i the line can easily build it.

that's right
B747-8i took over from the old 747 model.
Airbus didn't choose cargo option for the A380, it could have been a competitor...
however B787 and A350 respond better to today's demand
besides A320NEO series and B737MAX8 cover intercontinental market
aerospace industry flourishes, i can tell you we are very busy and my company recruits regularly
safety rate is also excellent, based on intensive IATA training, sensibilisation, responsabilisation
........latest Emirates A380 deal could pounce the market...Airbus should work on new engines to reduce fuel consumption and environmental impact, then get it more attractive....
cheers
